WXYC: Hey this is Julian with WXYC Chapel Hill I'm here with…

Jimmyboy: Jimmyboy whats up y'all

WXYC: So, can you tell me a little bit about how you enjoyed the festival? How was your performance? I wasn't able to make it earlier. This is your first major festival, right?

Jimmyboy: It's my first festival in general.

WXYC: Oh, really?

Jimmyboy: Yeah, it's my first festival, and it was amazing. The energy, people were vibing with me, people that do not know my language, don’t known Spanish, you know, they were giving me the energy that I needed to get going on stage again.

WXYC: Okay. So, I read a little bit about you, but you're from a Berklee, right?

Jimmyboy: I am at Berklee

WXYC: So, how has that, being a student and also doing music, how does that influence what you're making and what you want to actually do? Like, how does being a student, grappling with college and everything, but also doing stuff like this, how does it work in your life?

**Jimmyboy: **It goes hand-in-hand because, you know, I'm studying at Berklee Music School. Thanks to that, I got this gig, you know, with BPMI and everybody, and it just goes hand-in-hand because I'm going to be every single minute of the day making music. I'm always on my computer doing music, basically, or trying to book some shows outside of Berklee, you know.

So, it goes hand-in-hand. Berklee helps me out. I, you know, take advantage of that, helping, and doing things that I do, and it's my job, and I just go on.

WXYC: I've listened to a little bit of your music, but can you tell me what you want to share with the community? Like, what your sound means to others. if I'm listening to it, what do I want to get out of that. What do you want other people to feel about it?

Jimmyboy: That's a good question. I was on stage, and I was telling the audience, like, you know, I made this song about this relationship that I was in. And they immediately started screaming, and I was literally like, yeah, yeah, yeah. So, that's the idea. Even though they don't understand anything that I'm saying, they can, like, feel it in my voice. Passing that energy to them. I hear you.

WXYC: what do you have going forward? Because I know you have a few just single projects, but, you don't have that full album, I don't think, so yet?

Jimmyboy: I just dropped an EP.

WXYC: You just dropped an EP today?

Jimmyboy: Ya

WXYC: All right, well, tell everybody about it real quick

Jimmyboy: I dropped it today at 12.

WXYC: That is perfect.

Jimmyboy: Yeah. As soon as I hit a stage, it released. It took a while, because I wanted to take out a couple of singles before. So, I was like, I got to play smart. As soon as I finish the stage, people are probably going to go, you know, check out my music. So, I dropped, like, four of the five songs that I sang today, I put them in the EP, “La Jota”

WXYC: I'm going to have to listen after this.

Jimmyboy: Go and listen to it. And we were in a rush because we needed to spin it on Wednesday. Yeah, we spun it yesterday. Oh, Thursday, I'm sorry. So, you know, it takes three days to rock it. But it worked out.

WXYC: Are you happy with the project?

Jimmyboy: I am really happy. Check out “La Jota” streaming right now.

WXYC: Streaming right now, yeah, that's all I had for you. Thank you.

Jimmyboy: Thank you so much.
