The hocket is prolific in indiginious music as well as in the notated compositions of medieval ars antiqua years. Hear the hocket in settings from drum corps beats to gamelan. WXYC DJ Raj Saha and guest Esther Majani, a Master's degree candidate in the Gillings School of Global Public Health, present "Music of Tanzania" this Wednesday (10/27) at 9 PM on The Global Music Show. They will be discussing cultural themes (including political dissent and the AIDS epidemic) within several genres of traditional and modern Tanzanian music.
